Video of Kohana giving birth to Adan.
Normally an orca mother will help her newborn up to the surface to get their first breath of air, but Kohana doesn’t.
In fact she want absolutely nothing to do with her son. She swims away from him and at the end of the video this newborn Adan is seen swimming all by himself.
The very same thing happened when Kohana gave birth to Vicky who died 10 months after being born.
The reason why Kohana is a “bad” mother is probably because she was taken from her own mother at a very young age and so her mother never got to teach her how to be a good mom. Another factor is that Kohana was too young when she had Adan. She was only 8 years old and in that dysfunctional pod at Loro Parque there was no older female to help or teach her about motherhood.
To this day Kohana shows no interest in the now 3 year old Adan. He has no mother, no one who protects him from being attacked by other orcas and no one to teach him everything he needs to know. He’s alone where as in the wild he would have a big family who took care of him.
This is inexcuseable. This is captivity.
I’m the girl you’re thinking about
The one thing you can’t live without…
Blomkvist tries to say her name to get her to look. Lifts a hand to try to point. She turns and glimpses the monster as he disappears out the steel door. Looks back at Blomkvist, still handcuffed on the floor, and, like a child asking a parent for permission.Nothing in his life would allow him to agree to such a thing - until now. Now it’s as if her years of violence and degradation have been passed to him.He nods.
